same_differenceThe problem with having all your possession on shelves is the height for when you accidentally drop them.
Just bashed myself in the face with a D&D DMG. Thankfully I still some grip on it so I didn't drop it entirely, but the book landed smack on the bridge of my glasses for extra pain transference.
