So today has been a day of good tidings.

At work I and one of my colleagues were told that because the things each of us are working are entirely self contained we should be able to start working in Bath next week only having to go up to Basingstoke for the odd day. It's not 100% definite (or at least I won't believe it to be until it happens), but the customer are keen to reduce their costs and not paying the £75 a day in expenses to have me in their office is one way of doing it.

The other good news is we got the cheques through for the personal injury claim from the car accident back in Nov 2009. There's still a wrangling over the costs*, but that's for the solicitors to sort out.

*When the passenger in the other car perused a personal injury claim again the driver of the other car, his original solicitors dropped him fast claiming conflict of interest. This meant solicitors appointed by his insurance stepped in, but his original solicitors had been lax and not properly kept his insurers informed of our correspondence. So now solicitors insurers are trying to avoid paying the full the costs incurred by claiming my solicitors hadn't properly followed procedures.

Last weekend was Minamicon, and I had a really nice time. Especially after being isolated in hotels by myself for most of the last few weeks, getting to spend a long weekend socialising with other people was great. Friday was the usual relaxed day ending with a birthday meal for [livejournal.com profile] lunarkittenlj. Saturday I attended a talk about Bushido by Akemi Solloway, which was both fascinating and somewhat heart rending as she talked about her worries for her family in Japan. That was followed by doing some Japanese calligraphy which was both immensely peaceful, and good for my posture. The masquerade was entertaining, even the awful excited pokemon girl (though more for the extreme empathic embarrassment Rachael suffered), and not too long. Sunday then was just relaxed chilling, another birthday meal, and doing some digital Scalextric where I won race largely by slowing down enough to cause the other cars to have pile ups at the cross over points. I also got to help [livejournal.com profile] ilpala with his Motoslave costume on Sunday evening; including a frantic duck tape and pen-splint repair job, when the harness supporting the wheels broke during the action shots.

Edit: How could I forget, Iron Cosplay -> Lynchie the squirrel and fwiends. We were so robbed.
