Where did all this stress come from?
Oct. 6th, 2004 10:13 pmIt's been an interesting few days to say the least, and I haven't really been able to relax with a couple of exceptions.
The three main things on my mind in approximate order of stress causing are my final year project, the placement conference on Friday and Sci-fi.
My final year project is the worst mostly because I've gone from no information to finding I have limited time and a lot to do in the space of about a day. Admittingly Maths did email me through some information a couple of weeks ago, but it was hidden in a series of nested links, which weren't exactly obviously important. I almost missed them when I knew they were there. So I am trying hard to get in contact with a lecturer and sort out a project. Thankfully the one I'm interested in has not been taken yet (or doesn't appear to be), but I'm having difficulty contacting the lecturer. I should be able to definitely contact him on Monday, but that's at least four days when I can't do anything about it. The initial deadline is the 21st, and there looks like a lot to do before then, though thankfully I can make a good start by talking to Andy (as it's follow on from what he did as a final project), but I'd rather had had some more warning.
The placement conference is Friday and I have to give a 10 min talk. The thing appears to take up most of the day and should be fairly dull. It only really causing stress and it takes away time I could be using to get more prepared for the start of the year, and put some work into the project.
Scifi stress is mostly fresher fair related. The new layout of the website is getting there, but there is still more work to be done, but thankfully someone named John is handling it, but parts of it won't be ready for a few weeks. And I still need to get in contact with someone about nicking their message boards. Film showings are sorted except for horror which involves much poking of Hobbit for information, of course he's not back till the day before the fair and I don't have much time to spare to prod him in. And finally there the issue of the budget, well the problem with the budget, and working how exactly to go about getting everything up ready for the fair on my first day of this semester when they are several lectures I can't miss.
Oh well, guess I just have to work until the problems go away.
Lastly for the curious film showings for next semester are:
