And there goes all the stress :-)
Oct. 9th, 2004 10:43 amYep feeling lots better now, mostly thanks to P my stress levels plummeted the second I saw her. Oh yes she's back in Bath so expect to me be slightly more bouncy, yes I'm still very bouncy about P and it's not likely to change.
The placement conference was about as dull as it can get. My talk seemed to go well which was good, though I get the impression I had one of the worst placements (no training, and the conditions as you all well know). There were a couple of interesting developments like people becoming the head of a department during their placement due to people leaving, but meh who cares. Oh and how could I forget IBM, I never ever want to hear about them again. Thanks to six people working in various versions of IBM North Harbour finance/HR/stuff departments I had to listen to an hour of how it works in IBM and what forms you do. I felt like my brain had dribbled out my ears by the end of it.
And the other good news. I have a placement project. It's working on the research area that Andy did as his final project and Flo (LARP - Rain) is doing for his PHD. It's to do with looking at modeling VR/game worlds by starting with the physics and building up, rather than creating the world and hard coding the physics and behaviours of the objects that you can interact with afterwards. I'm planning to try and model friction, and I've got about two weeks to work out exactly what I'm going to try and do, and produce the project proposal for it. I really interested in the project, the research is being done as there has been no (or very little) research done into this before, and I get to be the first person to try and model the friction.
Oh and scifi looks like it's all coming together, but no idea when the new site will be ready.
