Moc-Moc-a-Moc?

same_differenceI need some advice on a fairly minor topic. I have bought a lot of games I own, particularly ones I really like based on the strength of games reviews from sources I trust. I haven't bought anything in a while and this is partly to do with the fact I no longer have a source of reviews I read regularly. Generally I prefer to have a review site that's verges on the harsh and covers enough of a variety of games with a small enough team of reviewers that I can learn their biases and how they're tastes in games relate to mine. Oh and I like them to be free if possible. So what do my friends use, if any, and what hidden gems of games have come out in the last 6 months I may have missed?
This particular question has reminded me of Digitiser. Digitiser was for years a teletext based games review magazine on Channel 4, it was known for it's often particularly harsh criticism, bias against/for everyone (depending on which Fanboy on the letters page you listened to) and totally off the wall humour. It was replaced in 2003 by Gamecentral that for a while was the same quality of reviews without the humour and in time as the team behind it has changed I found myself reading it less and less and eventually reading it not at all.
Remembering Digitiser led me to search for some information about it, which led me to discover the sordid history of Mr Biffo's battle with the bosses and editors of teletext and an archive of some of the particular humour. It certainly adds a different perspective to Zombie Dave when you become more clear on the purpose of his remarks. It also led me to rediscover Digi-speak, hence the title.
So other than wondering if anyone I know understands what I mean when I refer to the 'Snakes' or 'Mr T's Bins', I'm also offering an insight into something that was good and that I read from about the age of 14 till it's death. Mostly though I'm still after review sites I can trust in the same way. Do you see?
