I saw Children of Men yesterday. British made sci-fi thriller, of the living through the slow end of the world scenario. It is very good and definitely worth seeing though, it doesn't need a cinema. Lots of not very subtle subtext, which hits that much harder by being very close to the kind of images we see on the news a lot at the moment (and for the last few years).
Very definitely British though, right down to the token American actress to make it sell in the states. I don't know why, but British horror/thrillers like '28 days later' all have that same washed out grey look about them. The other thing I noticed is that we do slums/run down/war torn areas so much better than Hollywood. It looks very real, where as American ones always feel slightly glossy. It also did a very good near future, mostly the same with just little every day advances which again help to keep it feeling that much closer to your real life experiences.
If you enjoy though provoking well made sci-fi action thriller and definitely worth seeing at some point.
