I'm a wanted man

Between about a fortnight and 3 weeks ago I got a letter and a questionnaire from the national student survey, supposedly to help future students make choices. Now I'm a naturally suspicious person (when it comes to institutions/questionnaires at least) and I immediately picked up on three things:
1) They wanted my date of birth, infact even if I didn't want to do the questionnaire they asked if I could return the questionnaire with just the date of birth filled in.
2) The entire back of the covering letter was covered with data protection act information.
3) All the questions were about the quality of teaching, etc.
Anyway I looked at it, decided I couldn't be bothered and threw the lot away.
About a week later I receive a post card saying we haven't received your questionnaire, and could I please fill it in and return it or go online and do it if I have lost it. So I binned that too, and assumed that would probably be the end of it.
Then, on Monday early evening they called. I wasn't in and my Dad being my Dad told them I wasn't in, and that he didn't know when I would be back or when I'd be at home. Of course he does know really, but he shares a similar attitude to me when it come to unsolicited calls, etc.
So now I wait patiently to see how they'll next contact me. What I still don't understand is why they want my date of birth, they clearly have all my details, our home phone number is ex-directory so that they had to have been given it by someone, so what difference does it make?

Date: 2005-03-16 05:40 am (UTC)I actually filled it all in (because I like doing questionaires) and it's still sitting on the bed waiting to be thrown out in the next bedroom tidy-up.
The States of Guernsey keep on sending me stuff about my experiences in Education. I sent their first questionaire back filled in because they kept on sending me letters demanding that I do it, as a kind of semi-legal obligation.
The subject of the questionaire was something along the lines of "what are you planning to do with your future?" and involved an extensive section on would I be coming back to the island to work? If not, why not? And how could they tempt me back?
It gave me great pleasure to answer along the lines of "I'd rather die, cold and alone," "The gutter has more appeal than a job on a 6 mile by 12 lump of rock supporting mostly upper class Christian money-lenders" and "you can't. There isn't enough money on this planet."
They still keep on sending me brochures about how fantastic it is to work as a corporate whore. It's not that I have anything against being a corporate whore, but I'd rather do it somewhere that's actually got a community wider than four interbred families.
Wow, I'm bitter.
