It was a good weekend, my siblings were down, which means two equally interesting and fun things:

1)A chance to catch up, and enjoy ourselves. Weekends with the whole family together are far too rare nowadays, but definitely worth the wait.
2) Half-sitting back and watching the same arguments, stances, tones of voice and attitudes, that have been ingrained, reinforced and developed by a life spent growing up, coming back in minutes as if we've never been apart.

It's good seeing P in that context too, it ties things together very well.

My sister who some people met on Saturday (LJ can be found at [livejournal.com profile] prosepina, friends only but ask nicely) during a typically interesting conversation told me that my ice skating post was written in a mathematical way. Looking back on it I can see exactly what she means, oh well. It's interesting now she has an LJ, it gives me a new way to improve my understanding of the person she is. If I think back on it there are very few of my interests, or opinions that haven't in some way been inspired or started by her, and for that I'm very grateful. Infact so much of who I am has been influenced by her, and thanks to her memories of myself as I grew up I've learned a lot about myself that I wouldn't have found out. I look forward to a weekend in the not too distant future when I won't have a degree any more and we can just have a good long chat.

I always rather arrogantly thought of myself as your third parent. I have no true right to that claim, I suspect all first borns have this, but it makes me reflect on children in ways that my straddled friends clearly didn't. Never worked out if that was a good or bad thing. Was left warm and fuzzy with the notion that had I been you, I would have been drawn to your friends too, they all seem lovely.
