Yes I really can be a moron on times. Friday evening as I was about to head off to see P for the weekend in Oxford, I managed to lock my car keys in my car. But better than that I managed to lock my house keys and my mobile in the car as well.

It was truly brilliant maneuver. First I began by carefully chucking my cars keys on to my seat, after opening only the passenger door to put a bag in, then closing the passenger door, and deciding to open it again so I could lock it. I walk around to my drivers door, try and open it and realise it's locked and watch my car keys staring back at me from the drivers seat.

Oh and I waited for my parents (who have my spare key) to leave before doing all this. Thankfully I was able to make a phone call from the neighbours, after helping them with some computer issues (such as opening attachments, explaining that things go to the recycle bin if you delete them until you clear them out, oh and double clicking to open things). After about an hour I was able to leave, with some much less frustrated neighbours (they said I could call America if I needed to, they were that grateful), and with my Dad's promise to teach me how to break into my car when I get back.

Oh yes my neighbours think that I should write a book on how to use Windows, they have two or three which haven't been any help. I might well do it.

I've managed something similar in the past. Was taking a friend's dog for a walk in Alton in Hampshire, and I parked the car, left the keys in the ignition (the engine was off), got out, shut the front door. Got the dog out of the back, and leant round inside the car to lock all the doors. I didn't realise till I got back from the walk that the car keys were on plain view in the ignition!! They had my housekeys on as well. I had to walk to a friends house who happily had spare keys for our house in order to get the spare car keys!! The dog enjoyed it. He got bonus walkies!! I felt rather silly though.

Sorry Dom, but I feel that the irony of not being too stupid to write a book about Windows after having locked yourself out of your car in such a spectacular way should not be lost to the world.

*ducks and runs*

I can't argue with that.
