So another weekend gone, another post about my renovating of my house. This week greatly aided by Pete and Charlene, who came to see the place, stayed to help strip wallpaper and from the sound of it had a really enjoyable time doing so.

So Saturday I finished the back main bedroom, while Rachael, Charlene and Pete removed the plastic coated outer layer of the bathroom wallpaper. Then Rachael and Charlene tackled the ceiling tiles in the bathroom, while Pete helped me attack the painted wallpaper in the small bedroom. I'd forgotten quite how irritating painted wallpaper can be, thankfully only two walls were painted wallpaper the rest were just paint. The walls were scored and scraped at by Pete while I steamed trying to get edges to come up, then swapped round with Pete, him working at the areas I'd loosened with the steam, while I steamed the parts that wouldn't come away. With the ceiling tiles cleared and over half of one painted wall done we took a break; except the break ended up being peeling the easy to remove wallpaper from the kitchen walls. Well Pete did mostly because he's tall, and able to reach the higher up parts more easily*. Saturday was finished with Rachael de-tiling the entire kitchen while I took Pete and Charlene back.

*Not that Charlene isn't tall, just Pete is taller still.

Sunday while Rachael worked at Game, I finished things off in the house managing to clear the painted wallpaper from the small room, the remaining underlayer of wallpaper from the bathroom, some wallpaper hitherto missed in a cupboard and then whichever bits of the remaining wallpaper I felt comfortable removing while up a ladder.

That's one of the improvement this house renovating has made: My fear of heights is heightened on unstable surfaces greatly reducing the distance from ground level in which it kicks in**. Working on a slightly rickety step ladder has removed my fear for at least wobby surfaces of heights up to about 5 foot.

**For the reference of others my fear of heights kicks in just below the top of the swing of the Pirate Boat at Alton Towers.

Headache wise the doctor said tension headache. Recommended codine based over the counter painkillers and provided me with a prescription for higher quantity of codine containing ones if that doesn't help, with the option of going to see him again if no improvements been had. I've not yet used my prescription, but I'm not really noticed much improvement with the codine based painkillers as of yet.

I'm a bit leery of using the prescription codine tablets (co-comidal) because of the number of people I know personally who don't react that well to them, including sensations of becoming high, yet still in pain, in one case, personality changes in another, and significantly increased heart rate and blood pressure in my Dad.

Now though Zombie killing with Pete and Charlene, aided by Rachael's amazing gift of a headset mike :)
