Yeah this LJ is going to have a certain theme for the next few months in case you hadn't guessed.
This weekend was all about the wall paper stripping and the snow. More of the former really as the latter was only played with for fun.
purplegirl23 and I spent Saturday stripping the rest of the wallpaper from the lounge-dining room, which I think if anything we did quite quickly as it's quite a big room, and it does take a fair amount of time. We celebrated by playing with the snow, but more on that later. Sunday I, while
purplegirl23 was at work, went back and proceeding to begin work on the one of the main upstairs bedrooms managed to get about 2/3rds of it done which was good going I think. Of course that was after
elmyra,
baloonworld,
ailsa_chan and GG came up to see it for a few minutes. Obviously there'll be a lot more to appreciate when it's done, but I did like GG wanting to see the place now so he'd have an appreciation of the work that went in to it when it's done.
So the snow. Having not gone up all week the driveway, and both gardens had a nice and deep 4 or so inches of snow on them. I'm glad that for now at least I haven't got to worry about cleaning that up. The back garden obviously had the same, and below the cut you can see it in pristine (well except for cat paw prints) ( condition. )
So with the worst snow for 18 years there really was only one thing to do; build a giant snowman bunny. As can be seen ( below. )
Let's just say as the last picture shows with a Snow Bunny of that size the garden wasn't so pristine any ( more. )
In other stuff, I'm enjoying Fallout 3. While it is very much Elder Scrolls: Oblivion with guns I haven't found myself losing interest in the game. Partly it's because the environment feels more varied (sure you have equivalents of the repeating Mine/Elven Ruin/Collapsed Tower dungeons with the Metro Tunnels and mostly intact multi-storey buildings - they however feel much more naturally and sensible located), partly there are tangible rewards for exploring the aforementioned 'dungeons' (limited fixed location special items - not just generic chest of random level appropriate loot no 176492), largely because not every enemy is automatically scaled to your level (it's nice meeting a mix of things that are hard and those that aren't as opposed to oblivion and it's 'so your high level OK all the basic bandits now carry the best type of weapons and armour in the game' approach), but mostly because of a nice simple experience based levelling system (endlessly skill grinding to achieve useful stats while not necessary with Oblivion is how my game playing style has to play it - should I ever start a new game of it (though I'm loathe to have 'wasted' the hours I've put in so far) I'm modding it so much it'll be like Original Trilogy Darth Vader was to New Prequel Anakin Skywalker). In summary very large quantity of hours in I'm still enjoying it, I'm actually relishing getting to explore more of the Capital Wasteland and I'm coming to terms with having various 30's and 40's swing style songs playing through my head occasionally.
Left 4 Dead is also being much fun, and it sounds like more people I know will be getting it. Still need to play it more and get better at it though. Hopefully the former will mean more chance of the latter :)
I'm also making time for cosplay, need to make more time, but I'm getting momentum up I feel.
