Quiet Sundays
Nov. 25th, 2007 02:27 pmSo another Sunday not larping. Yesterday was a long day, a good fun ultimately productive day, though a few of my friends weren't happy for one reason or another (some at least my responsibility; others for valid reasons born out of invalid ones), but long and tiring all the same. So today of course I find myself with a desire to do not much at all, even more so because I know I have an unusually busy week coming up (Which includes plans to go see Beowolf randomly on Monday in Bath if anyone's interested).
Today looks like it would have been a very good day to be out larping, not cold (at least by my standards of cold), bright and dry. I even woke up in enough time to have gone if I so choose, I just didn't feel like it. I've definitely being going through a period recently of just not really wanting to go. Unlike some of the theories I've detected in subtext it's got nothing to do with the weather or playing over monstering, I'm just finding myself waking up on a Sunday and not feeling like it. If I want to larp then regardless of the weather, even if I wake up late, I'll larp; waking up late just means I'll run around trying to get everything done so I can get there asap. Of course there's no easy way to inform people so they can adjust things based on my presence, it's not something I'll decide in advance (I often look forward to larping during the week), so all I can really say is you'll see me if you see me, and chances are I won't know if I'm going to be there until not that long before you do. I think I'll aim to get/drag myself up to campus regardless the next few weekends (except the one I'm in Nottingham) as it'll be the surest way to get myself back into it more again which I want to be. It's worked in the past so it should work again I reckon. So apologies for my unreliableness in that regard.
In other news finally managed to get all the button holing done on my Dragon Quest cosplay costume, which means it's nearly finished. All that's left is adding a pocket to the yellow knee length waist coat, borrowing or acquiring a suitable bad, and making a papermache boomerang in the style of one of the game weapons (Boomerang rather than sword, because the boomerang is clearly the weapon type you have the Hero use the most). Below are photos, noting once again how the typically clean shaven anime character, when cosplayed by me at my typically 11 o'clock shadow end up with the inevitable result of it looking like the character the morning after a hard night drinking...
