I look just like Mii
Dec. 30th, 2006 12:30 amThis has been a fun Christmas. It's been fun to spend my time in the company of my family and my friends. It's good to see people happy, and mostly OK. Some people have a very hard time with families at Christmas, sometimes it seems that 'some' is more accurately 'most'. A family, an extended family in fact, that I can enjoy spending time with is a blessing I do hope I don't under appreciate.
This evening for example my parents, my sister, my brother, a paternal uncle and a paternal grandfather shared a meal together, watched a classic comedy together* and spent time collective making our Miis, before playing each other at various games.
My sister has a Nintendo Wii, the avatar's you can customise are called Miis and are used in some games. At least an hour was spent making and varying and debating how to make Miis that look like my uncle, my grandfather and my Mum, while modifying the one for my brother and my sister, and accidentally creating a cousin looky-likey in the process. I even got to play my uncle at various things like bowling and table tennis. This is someone who has never played a computer game, clearly Nintendo have achieved their aim of getting non-gamers to play games. I also found out other random things for example I learnt my avatar is really good at baseball regardless of who's playing at the time.
Oh yes, and while other people's Miis are an approximation, my Mii looks just like me. Everyone can instantaneously recognise me, even from behind. In fact should I next need a passport photo I might as well use that, or such is the impression I'm given. If I can find a way to, I'm going to use it as a user pick.
*Arsenic and Old Lace - proving once again that good humour, good writing and good acting are timeless. I must admit I don't understand people who just can't watch black and white films.
