The good larp, followed by hot shower, good food and great company is something I really enjoy. I haven't been getting down the pub much this (academic year) but by the time I've got home, got clean and comfortable I don't really want to leave again. Especially with P to spend time with. Plus there's always something that needs to be done on Sunday evening (like drying and waxing my plate for example).

Today was a good larp, if wet. The temperature wasn't too bad though other people suffered more. Then again with 7 layers on my upper body (including plate) I wasn't exactly exposed. The whole lab coat, leather, plate, leather layering also meant the jumper I was wearing (of the larp top and t-shirt) stayed dry. So for a wet larp I did quite well.

I really enjoy playing Cumberland, especially roleplaying with other people. I do hope they enjoy it too. It's fun either when I'm making random facts up, teaching someone something they don't know/don't need to know/don't want to know, sneakily healing the Might aligned scout, attempting to give out sweets or just using the other party members as my only little troup of freedom followers. I'm kind of amazed I still have so many of the original sweets I bought for him as well. Then again those who know what they are IC aren't always willing to indulge - perhaps a stroke of genius on my part I get to offer out sweets without really having to give any out.

At the moment I'm toying with a couple of ideas for Cumberland. I'm thinking a shield might well be useful to have as it will allow me to be more effective in fights, but I also want to have access to free hands for casting. Not sure what to do, suggestions would be appreciated. The other idea I'm playing around with in my head with is expanding Cumberland's family. I think I'd like him married, definitely with children (who should be around the age of some of those in the patrol), and possibly even grandchildren. I'm not sure how well I'd be able to pull it off though, again any ideas would be welcomed and appreciated.

My only minor semi-complaint with the larp is that I like my unintelligent undead more unintelligent and my slow zombies more slow. Slow steps and fast attacks do not a slow zombie make. It's mostly my feelings from when I run games, I like my more basic zombies and skeletons (below the rank when they are still too dumb to cast miracles) to feel like the mindless automatons they are. I like the feel of the zombie who swings into the easy parry, the skeleton who rains blows on the shield. Of course you want the monsters to have fun, and hit the party, but I like my unintelligent undead to not be expert fighters. It makes them more sinister in some ways. Not a complaint directed at anyone in particular, just something I noticed today and something I like to have when I GM. Having said this I'm not sure how well I manage it when I play undead myself.

On the car front I had a sort of run out of petrol moment yesterday (as I pulled off to go by petrol). My car sort of stalled when driving, but I don't think I'd ran the tank dry, I just think being on a steep hill wasn't conducive to getting the last of the petrol to the engine. I was kindly helped by some passers by, and a taxi driver, who pushed my car around so it was facing down the hill, but bump starting didn't work. Thankfully I was rescued by my Dad bringing fuel and helping getting the car started afterwards. The upshot of all this is I now have a container in my car in which to carry fuel should I find myself in that position again.

Actually, and this is kind of the point of this section of this entry, I have quite a few supplies in the boot of my car to help with problems that can arise, all of which have been added as I've discovered something else it's good to have. So currently I have: a tire pressure guage; length of strong pipe to help give me leverage to undo the bolts when I change tires; a bottle of engine oil; a cigarette lighter powered air compressor; a cold start spray; a wet start spray; and a disposable camera with a flash in case I need evidence in an accident. What I would like to know is: Do any of the car owners on my friend list also have a similar supply of useful stuff which they store in their car for when they need it?
