So it starts...
Oct. 13th, 2004 05:53 amLet's see. I have now had a lecture in all of my units so in summary:
Advanced Computer Graphics: Looks interesting, and is taught by my project supervisor. I'm happy.
Safety Critical Systems: File under easy but dull. Then again I chose it for its easiness, and it's large 'it's just common sense' quota. I was most amused by the lecturer, I'm sure he's a post-grad/ex-post-grad I've had in charge of labs before, and I'm guessing this is his first teaching year seeing as he forgot to introduce himself. Could do without him using the A380 as his standard example, especially as I know enough to know that he keeps getting all his facts and figures wrong.
Databases: 2nd year computing unit so dull, dull, dull but seems fairly straight forward. However I get to be in lectures with P :-). Not a fan of the lecturer though.
Linear Control Theory: Maths. However while I'm not anticipating enjoying the course (or finding it interesting) I am very impressed with the lecturer. He's actually explaining the steps in the proofs, and why he's doing them. Even if he doesn't write out the trivial steps or the calculations he still explains where he gets the result in the next step from. This is a good thing (and not something I've had before).
Project: I'm trying to maintain my interest in what I'm doing in the face of the horrible project lectures that are doing their best to destroy your interest in the project by telling you about all the software development, and other dull dull, stuff you need to include. They also seem to want to make working and completing it as terrifying a prospect as possible in case you were still looking forward to working on it (after hearing about the dull stuff). It's also with the database lecturer. Oh yes and my first deadline (for the project proposal, which includes completely planning the project) is next Thursday.
