I have had a very very good weekend.

For a start P was down from Oxford for the weekend. I hadn't seen her for a couple of weeks, since I needed to last weekend to get various things sorted, so lets just say I was ecstatic when I collected her from the train station, and that feeling lasted the whole weekend, right up to the point just after I dropped her off to get her train back to Oxford. I really am so incredibly lucky to get to go out with her. Yay for everything, except the nonexistence of cheap, simple and accessible teleportation.

The other highlight of my weekend was having the bulk of my pre-uni friends around on Saturday. There was me, P, Dave, Mike, Nick and his fiance Naomi, and [livejournal.com profile] jeat. Unfortunately, [livejournal.com profile] tanajassan couldn't make it as she was stewarding glastonbury. The day was spent just like when we were at college, playing card games and chatting pretty much constantly (except for when we were eating). Uno was brought, and while we didn't play the full insanity that is Padded White Cell Uno (every card does something), we only had about 3 cards which didn't have an effect, and none of the effects involved swapping seats. I did however invent a new rule for our group, one blank card (both sides have the same design) where if you had it in your hand at the end your total was deducted from your score not added to it. It worked well and added a whole new dimension to the mess of tactics that normally exist to the game. This was followed by poker, using the gratuitious amount of different types of sugar I'd bought as chips. We played a few rounds, I lost repeatedly, then I left the game to get dinner started for Nick and Naomi as they had to leave early, P and Naomi took over my hand (with all of 7 [insert appropriate value name] to bet with) and then they immediately won a round with a royal flush (though it did use 3 wild cards). Everyone (except P) was fed on steak sandwiches (with fried onions, tomato ketchup and in two cases lettuce), there was general satisfied and happy munching. Definitely the best food choice (especially considering the difficulty of feeding Dave).

In other news the insurance have finally come back on the second accident (the one of Bathwick Hill), though I still await resolution of the first one (must be nearly 6 months now). We both had the same insurance company, and they eventually decided on a 50/50 split (which the other driver had previously rejected) and I have been paid £350. As it wasn't exclusively my fault it hopefully won't affect my premium as much, and considering what the policeman gave as a statement (which was different to what he originally told me), and that fact I'd initially followed his advice and attempted to settle it without going through insurance, I'm very pleased with the final decision.

Lastly, and quite importantly my room is finally clean. I don't remember when it was last clean, though I did end up sorting things which I'd brought back from my first year at uni, so potentially two years (more if you count my first year, and a potentially significant amount of time before that). It took a week to do, but at least it's now done and can potentially be redecorated and reorganised to get my drum kit set up in it. There were many casualties: several bags of paper were removed for burning, a few more bags of assorted stuff was thrown out, and many probably quite unique subspecies of spider that probably evolved in the environment of my room (primarily from the kind that looks like daddy long legs) met there end in the hoover, however fourteen working pens were successfully found and rescued from the field of combat. I plan to hoover my room again at the end of this week.
