Big Update of everything
Mar. 30th, 2004 10:29 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Here is the big update that I previously mentioned I'm putting the bulk of
it behind cut tags to avoid clogging up all my friends pages.
Firstly thanks to everyone for the concern you showed me, both on here and
through other mediums after the Bad Day(TM). It was all appreciated and the
little words of wisdom, or offers to listen (even if I didn't take them up)
helped thanks. Sorry it took me so long to say thanks. In an update of that
it turns out that the other driver and I are both insured by the same
company. The insurance company isn't too happy about that as whatever
happens they have to pay out money. I'm not sure but unless the other driver
didn't have a fully comprehensive policy it works out cheaper for the
insurance company to put me at fault. Whether or not that will affect their
decision I don't know. Either way I just have to wait and find out.
In other happier news, here is the latest BESM update covering the last
three episodes.
Episode 5 - Dragonslave! Wait, can I buy you dinner?
We started again confronted by the three Ifriliters (sp?), striding out of
the burning crater that marked the end of the 'weapon'. Lina Inverse was
furious that the treasure (we had tricked her into believing was on the
weapon) had been vaporised. Incensed by this and the fact the Ifriliters
were ignoring her and instead talking at us telling us we should tell her
the truth, prepared a dragonslave. Before she released it Gin Peng quickly
diffused the situation by offering to buy her dinner. Its worth noting at
this point that the group had no money (well except for Neil's theif Rio but
we didn't know that), that Lina Inverse eats a ridiulous amount of food
(normally they order four + lots of a meal designed for one person) and that
Gin Peng has below average intelligence. We arrived in Fenalia and Ailsa's
bishi Raitaro Hyashi proceeded to 'explain' things to Lina. Raitaro's
personality meant she now 'remembered' that the effect of getting Lina to
use the Giga slave was to close the door to this fantasy (not destroy
fantasy completely), Gin Peng believed that she remembered it correctly,
until the ifriliter turned up as said we were wrong at which point he
started to get fairly confused. Lina left wishing to talk to people, and we
were visited by the seeress. She informed us that our superiors were in
disarray after finding technology (the Ifriliters are machines) working in
fantasy and we were informed to the follow the orders of our now promoted
Sergeant Hyashi, and do our best to remove heroes or set them against each
other, but whatever we do get to the Gate to the Abyss in 14 days with the
aim of capturing or taking out the one in charge of the Ifriliters.
This led to us wandering around the world and Sergeant Hyashi approaching
all the heroes we met with the aim of convincing them to not join the other
side. Considering her approach was 'Um have you been approached by anyone
strange recently asking them to join you? They are evil anarchists if they
approach you please don't believe them.' it went as expected (Quote Ailsa:
he's used to fighting not having to be diplomatic).
The episode ended with the group going back to Seyruun, Tim's Demon caused
problems again and after Gin Peng forcibly took him out of the situation, he
flew off in a huff, never to return (Well he looks like a Demon, he's
belligerent and he's in a world full of heroes where all the bad guys have
been removed long ago, his life expectancy was measurable in minutes).
Episode 6 - Bye bye Demon, Hello Hitomi
With the demon gone, a day or two wasted wandering about finding out exactly
who had been recruited by the enemy Gin Peng spoke up and suggested we try
something else, and search fantasy for either items capable of helping us in
our mission or a way to seal the doorways. We headed off towards Mettalicana
(Bastard) as we'd yet to visit it. As we approached we came across a fight
between Dark Schneider and one of the Ifriliters. Seeing our opportunity we
approached our fight and Gin Peng unleashed a Kuuryunotenooalashisholai at
the ifriliter just as Schneider unleashed a big attack. This was enough to
take out the Ifriliter. Gin Peng and Hyashi circled around behind the
Ifriliter and found the quivering form of Hitomi (Tim's new character, a
healer mech pilot). Gin Peng took her to safety while Hyashi took the
Ifriliters staff.
It turns out Hitomi was the only survivor of her team whose orders had been
to assassinate the girl capable of freeing dark Schneider from his sealed
form (a little boy), and the ifriliter was protecting her. Knowing Dark
Schneider's reputation we fled and headed off towards Iron town.
In Iron Town (Princess Monoke) we each made ourselves useful either on guard
duty or helping to heal to earn our self a nights rest. Rio hated the place
seeing as there was nothing shiny and valuable except that contained within
the heavily guarded vault of the cities ruler. While enjoying out evening
meal we were approached by someone from the enemy who preceded to tell us
several important bits of information and offered us a deal in return for
the staff.
She informed us that out government was trying to wipe out all the noble
qualities of humanity (by destroying the heroes of our minds who embody
those qualities) and that while a large number of heroes wanted us dead for
what we did to the Ifriliter the wiser ones new we were important. We were
needed to visit the fourth realm (which we weren't aware of the existence
of) and told to hold on to the doubts we each had for there to be any hope
of this war ending the way the heroes wanted (which were told was the best
way things could go). We are so important as the heroes can't go to the
fourth realm, and that no one had died in this war because of the existence
of the fourth realm (I'm guessing an afterlife like kind of place), though
we were never told what it was. After repeatingly asking questions that
weren't getting us anywhere she informed us that was she was offering for
the staff (after Gin Peng had already tried to hand it to her, his
dishonourable attack was weighing on his mind) was safe passage on the ship
we were supposed to go on to (called the Chizo, I think, I remember it being
said it was from Hacksign (?) as were the Ifriliters). We accepted the offer
and retired to bed.
Episode 7 - Climb a 30,000ft tower? Lets make sushi instead!
The comedy episode, well that how it turned out, though I suspect it was
funnier at the time.
Leaving Iron Town Gin Peng suggests to the group that they attempt to find
Korins tower (Dragonball, Dragonball Z) to obtain some senzu beans, beans
with the power to completely heal someone, restoring both hit points and
energy points. He told them to try and think of a tall spindly tower
decorated like a totem pole that stretched up into the clouds. They arrived
after two days (leaving 7 left to get to the gate of the abyss), and Gin
Peng said he would climb to the top and took the parties dragonball to trade
for some senzu beans. Attaching him self using Rio's rope he proceeded to
climb the tower.
After the first few hours passed, and the groups had stopped betting if then
could heal what was left of Gin Peng if he fell, they decided to go fishing.
The fact the fish were man sized didn't bother them as Rio and Hitomi opened
up with their guns on the fish, Hyashi joined in using his telekinesis to
pull the fish out.
The party stopped having caught a few fish and blasting several rounds into
other ones, Hyashi proceeded to the gut the giant fish. Noting the fact the
bishi wouldn't get dirty, even though he was hacking into it with his
katana, the two girls retreated to a safe distance where they would be less
likely to get splatted by flying fish guts. Then spontaneously generating
rice Hyashi proceeded to make giant fish sushi.
Gin Peng was still climbing having to stop and rest periodically until
(after I rolled a critical failed) he found a large bird like creature had
landed on his head. At this point he was about 15000-20000ft up. Blasting it
off and managed not to hit himself in the process he was greeted with the
descending form of whathisface (the one who doesn't die from dragon half,
Dao Hama or something) wondering what had happened to his beloved
pterodactyl like thing Roshi. As Gin Peng ascended, he descended and
threatening to try and climb through Gin Peng, Gin Peng picked him up off
the pillar by the ankle and deposited him facing towards the ground below
him. Dao Hama being thicker than Gin Peng proceeded to head in what he
though was the right direction, which now meant he was climbing up backwards
and kicking at Gin Peng's feet. Gin Peng casually kicked him off and
continued to climb, as the slightly scorched Roshi descending rapidly after
its master.
The party below were sitting around when Roshi landed with an unconscious
Dao Hama on its back. The party did the obvious thing and killed Roshi and
ate it, (Roshi tastes delicious), and when Dao Hama woke up professed no
knowledge of the location of Roshi and handed him a nicely cooked leg. They
let him leave, without telling him, only starting to laugh once he's gone
Gin Peng continues to climb and at about 25000ft after three to four days
bumps into Goku on his cloud, who already been and collected the senzu beans
(this after my second critical fail) he manages to trade the dragon ball for
one and a half of the beans and promises to perform the trade when he
reaches the top. He arrives a half a day to a day later to find Goku has
left, having taken 110 hours to get the top. Gin Peng then has to decide
between leaving straight away to reach the Gate of the Abyss in time or
waiting for Goku and hopefully getting a lift. He opts to wait and try
Korin's special training. Goku arrives the next day, and takes him back to
the ground, and after making the trade Gin Peng sets off to the Gate to the
Abyss.
In the meantime the rest of the party having received a message not to wait
for Gin Peng have travelled up to Seyruun in the hope of buying something.
Giving up they head off to the Gate also. Everyone arrives on day 14 at the
gate and see the heroes enter, following once they are gone a shuttle
arrives and collects them to take them to the chizo.
Last weekend I took P back home to Oxford and has a nice weekend. I
was taken to see A Winters Tale performed by creation theatre, by her and
her family (Mum and sisters). Its the Shakespearean play from which P
was named. I really enjoyed it it was well acted and very entertaining.
There's a big difference between watching it how its supposed to be done and
dissecting it minute detail at GCSE English level. There's nothing like
killing your interest in a story after you written about the extensive and
symbolic use of the letter 'o' in something (and yes I did do that GCSE, I'm
sure my English teacher was just making things up).
Anyway the play was performed in an antic Dutch tent. Basically it was about
8-10m's across in diameter, with a wooden floor, a raised round wooden stage
in the centre and ornately carved wooden walls with in built seats and
inlaid mirrors. Unsurprisingly it was called the tent of mirrors. The acting
was performed on the stage in the centre with those whose characters had no
dialog walking around the stage among the seats. The seats were either at
tables, or the one on the walls. I was seated on one of the wall seats, with
the chairs and tables located just in front of us or just next to the stage
(the actors walked around between the two areas of tables). It had a really
nice atmosphere, and with the exception of one actor with quite a gruff
voice you could easily hear all the dialog, even when they turned the back
to you, and the people in front of you didn't really obscure your view. I
would have preferred if the lighting hadn't shown the clouds of spittle
bellowing from the actors in some of the more roused speeches but you can't
have everything. The whole thing was acted by 7 people, one of which was a
young boy who left after the first half of the play with each of them
covering at least one major role as well as a couple of smaller ones.
The one thing I noted from that weekend was the way I was being
automatically included in future possible family trips *g*
I think there something else I wanted to mention so I'll probably update
with it when I remember.
