Christmas and New Year

So had quite a varied Christmas this year.
The week before from Monday evening to late Thursday afternoon Rachael and I went to Disneyland Paris with
angelphie and
luki_dimension.
ashechan was working out in Disneyland this Christmas,
angelphie wished to visit her and found a good deal for a hotel room for 4 and park entry. So it ended up costing £208 each for three nights at a hotel, and entry to both parks, including the early entry passes.
angelphie was our tour guide, and general holiday organiser extraordinaire, and as a result we got to do a great deal in our time there. I was really impressed with the park, the production quality of the whole place is very high. Considering my only experience with theme parks to date had been Alton Towers and Thorpe Park (where the themeing doesn't really extend much past the paint jobs) it's on an entirely different level. The food is also a world away from the usual in terms of standard, while the good food, wasn't much better than good food anywhere, the cheaper stuff was remarkably good quality.
I had a great deal of fun on all the rides we went, and mostly enjoyed the various shows. I have learnt that thrill rides have to be extremely thrilling indeed to make up for me not being able to wear my glasses, as I had a lot of fun on the generally much slower and gentler rides at the park.
The only downside to the holiday (other than the attitude and smoking habits of the largely Parisian park guests) was catching some sort of presumably French cold while I was out there. Felt somewhat off Tuesday evening, felt off through Wednesday, but generally kept it at bay with judicious application of roller coaster. Travelling back Thursday evening and then Friday saw me get progressively worse, but it had largely cleared up by Christmas, and is now just lingering.
Christmas Day was spent for the first time as just Rachael and I here at home. I cooked a pretty good Christmas dinner (if I do say so myself) and we generally relaxed. We'd visited my parents on the evening of Christmas Eve, and one of my families gatherings on the evening of Christmas Day. My gifts this year have all been either books, games, DVD's, chocolate or alcohol, so I'll have plenty of distractions/amusements to keep me going for a good long while.
Wednesday of last week we had Rachael's family come over for a late Christmas meal, and I successfully cooked for her parents, grandparents and sister and sister's fiancé. Well enough in fact that they might actually plan to let me cook for them here in future (which will be a change from the usually brief visits they tend to make).
For New Years I baked a veritable heap of sausage meat pastries, and a pizza, and we've had the delightful company of
theminxiekitten and her adorable little boy, and of course our lodger
neomogrox and the new year was welcomed in with good drink, fun games and a great deal of laughter.
Back to work on Wednesday, Tuesday is going to be spent celebrating 4 years of being with Rachael, so tomorrow I fully intend to finally get my damn CV written!
