...especially chain mail ones. Which is why I've spent most of today modifying my suit of chain mail. Pre-modified it went down to below my knees, the sleeves were long enough to cover my entire arms and hands leaving an inch over lap, and it's chain mail so the weight tends to pull it inwards, making it figure* hugging (well figure squashing). If it weren't for me being a 20-something male, and it being made of chain mail, I could be described as looking like a little girl playing dress up in her Mum's dresses.**

I think tomorrow might kill me, still that would make things nice and simple for me (though less simple for the GM's). Before I removed bits it weighed 19 kilos, I've taken a few inches of the sleeves and split it at the bottom (so I can walk), so I doubt it's all that much lighter. Plus there's plate to go top. Still if I survive it might help me get fitter.

If I start going to the Medieval Martial Arts regularly, and salsa fortnightly I hope it'll get me fitter. Both are fun so that's good. Even if it may take me a while to pick up salsa well enough to keep up with the pace of the lessons. Then if I actually start swimming like the physio recommends to build up that muscle group in my back that I otherwise never use, I might be reasonably fit again.

Anyway enough self mocking, here's a meme for you to do so instead:

Ask me or my characters up to five questions on anything - opinions, politics, my life, your life, whatever, and I'll try to answer them. I reserve the right to ignore or mock the rude ones.

*Not that I have one.
**I'm not sure I want to be giving you that particular mental image of me.***
***I am sure you don't want it either.

*hysterical laughter* I quite like the image of you in a dress. (This is what you get for encouraging me). Good luck with the armour and the getting fit.

Since you are awkward, and I already know the answers to some of the questions I've been asking other people, some of these are new:

1) If you wrote a book, what would it be about?

2) Out of all the speical powers/abilities in the TL world, which one would you chose to have for yourself in real life and why?

3) What do you think is my most annoying habbit/trait?

4) If you could have one person removed from existence, who would it be?

5) Did you ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight? (I'm tired and out of ideas. Bonus points to anyone who gets the refernce.)

1) If you wrote a book, what would it be about?

I have absolutely no idea what so ever, none, in fact every time I have considered this for myself I've totally drawn a blank.

2) Out of all the special powers/abilities in the TL world, which one would you chose to have for yourself in real life and why?

Heal wounds, with it I could do so much good.

3) What do you think is my most annoying habit/trait?

I don't believe there is a good answer to this question, but thankfully for me I can't think of an answer anyway. Really unless you're related to me I'm unlikely to spare the mental capacity to think such things anyway.

4) If you could have one person removed from existence, who would it be?

How effectively removed from existence are we talking wheel of time-esque erased from all time bale fire, or just a simple ceasing to exist? One is too few a number to make a difference, so perhaps I'd go with myself so I could not unleash the power on another in anger.

5) Did you ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight? (I'm tired and out of ideas. Bonus points to anyone who gets the reference.)

Does the devil salsa? If so maybe without realising. I should mention I don't get the reference even if it triggers memory.

What three songs make up the soundtrack to your life?

A recently-baked Death, Resurrection and Death Again By Chocolate cake suddenly develops sentience. How do you explain life to it?

What do you think the conversation would be about if Linte, Aurinyan and Lucien were locked in a magic-proof room together?

Which road do you think teaches you more valuable lessons - the path less trod or the one you walked yesterday?

What's it all about, really?

What three songs make up the soundtrack to your life?

Um that one, that other one, and of course that third one. I really don't have a clue how to answer this. I just don't remember music, well not in a associated with anything else sort of way. Music is background to my life, that triggers sensory responses and emotive responses at the moment of contact, not conscious intellectual or long lasting ones.

A recently-baked Death, Resurrection and Death Again By Chocolate cake suddenly develops sentience. How do you explain life to it?

A wonderful and unique experience that while having the capacity for moments of absolute joy tends to be short and cruel. Especially when you are delicious chocolate cake with a limited shelf life even if I didn't eat you. Oh and far far more odd than it could ever comprehend.

What do you think the conversation would be about if Linte, Aurinyan and Lucien were locked in a magic-proof room together?

The stupidity of missions, the idiocy of others, and survival tactics. Once they'd got Linte to stop trying to escape and stop talking about Kadija, of course.

Which road do you think teaches you more valuable lessons - the path less trod or the one you walked yesterday?

The path less trod because of the new experiences it brings where as the one I walked yesterday I had walked before, and will walk again.

What's it all about, really?

Having the most contented life possible, while doing all you can to help others have the same.

Questions ranging from the philosophical to the silly, just because I've realised I don't actually know these things about you (or could make an educated guess but would like to know more). Feel free to tell me to sod off with any or all of them.

1. How did you get into role-playing/LARP?

2. What's your favourtite book?

3. If you had superpowers, what would they be?

4. In the current ploitical climate (okay, assume we're a couple of days in the future and Gordon Brown is PM), who would vote for if the general elections were held in two weeks' time and why?

5. Do you have views/beliefs in the area of religion and if yes, what are they?

1. How did you get into role-playing/LARP?

Well I was talked into LARP by Matt the Hat on a society pub crawl, though I don't remember which one I have a suspicion it was a fencing one for some reason.

Roleplaying I got into at 6th form college, with the friends I met and got to know there, though I only did a little of it because we were too busy playing all the cards games in the world. So again it wasn't till university that I started playing regularly.

2. What's your favourite book?

I don't do favourites, I just don't compartmentalise the world in that way. Having said that Good Omens is the one that sprung to mind when I read that question, and I would put it near the top of a list a favourite books even though I don't have such a list.

3. If you had superpowers, what would they be?

Ah plural good, asking me to pick one would have been difficult, so:
- Teleportation with some sort of scrying ability. No point being able to travel between two locations instantaneously if you can't see where you're going to end up.
- The ability to stop and starting time at will is tempting, but I can't find suitable solutions that don't involve me accidentally suffocating, or causing serious harm to things around me.
- Perfect lie detection with no limit on range, or medium. I don't necessarily want to know what people are thinking, just if I'm being lied to.
- The power to make people relive every potential consequence of stupid behaviour in a dream like state.
- The ability to cure illness and suffering at will.
- Telekinesis, because well why not, of the big and small variety.
- Invisibility, flight and invulnerability because again really why not.
- And the most important the one ability to ensure no one knows about the rest of the powers.
That's just off the top of me head.

4. In the current political climate (okay, assume we're a couple of days in the future and Gordon Brown is PM), who would vote for if the general elections were held in two weeks' time and why?

I've become very much turned off with politics recently. It's clear no ones going to assassinate* certain political individuals which means I'm stuck with the idiocy of the general populace in the way of getting rid of the people I dislike. I don't see a viable opposition, but would be tempted to vote for whoever would get Gordon Brown as far from any sort of influence as is physically possible. Realistically I'd vote conservative purely to remove Don Foster locally, considering labour will not win here, regardless of what I felt about national issues. Some things are just worth getting done.

*If you could assassinate people without causing distress for anyone, that would be amazing. That's what would bother me the most about that solution. Actually add assassination with out effecting anyone else in any way shape or form to my impossible powers above.

5. Do you have views/beliefs in the area of religion and if yes, what are they?

I do. They are complicated, best to start with the history.

I was raised Roman Catholic, did the whole working up through the sacraments thing up till confirmation, because they're seemed no reason not too. Following confirmation, school R.E. (At the RC comprehensive) went into more detail about such things as the doctrine of the catholic faith, resulting in a very much 'You have got to be joking reaction!', also had issues about the difference between performing a ritual behaviour and appreciating and intending the meaning behind it.

Decided then that faith made more sense as a purely personal thing, and it would be hypocritical to attend masses where I did not fully agree with the beliefs I was required to subscribe too. Realised later than I never prayed to anything other than a God figure, and so would probably more describe myself as some kind of deist, where I used to say non-denominational Christian.

My belief in some ways is kind of strange, and very vague and ill defined. So I don't talk about it because primarily faith of any kind should be a personal thing, and because I have no real opinions to argue. Other than everyone should be entitled to believe or not believe whatsoever they wish as long as they cause no harm to others through their faith, religion, agnosticism or atheism.

All I can really say to describe it, is that I don't need faith to answer questions or provide meaning or to justify either the good or evil in the world. I like science's answers, and I believe in the importance of finding ones own meaning. Though I have no issue with the existence of a creator (not a designer), even only one who set a few equations and then hit start and who maybe fiddles the numbers occasionally so certain things happen; if only because it gives me an extra perspective from which to appreciate the wonder that the universe inspires in me.

What I need and what I get from my faith is an indefinable, but very real and effective sense of support when I cannot provide it for myself. One I received in a very poignant way when I really needed it, and one I can draw upon whether I need to.
