Comments

Some posts I write get comments, some of them which I expect to start a small debate don't. I think I find the comment or no comment fascinating, now to see if there is a trend...

This being one of the posts that you expect to generate comments, given everyone must have an opinion on the nature of comments, else they wouldn't comment on anything?

Actually no, I've stopped expecting posts to generate comments because they don't when I expect them to, but that means I should have expected comments...

*sigh*

This was just a thought, and sometime when I remember I like to LJ thoughts.

Soon, once I have an answer I like...

Level of address.

Whether or not you make the post appeal to a reader on a personal level with regard to implying something about them or their behaviour, regardless of whether or not that is the original intention.

I would expect a post like this to either draw "comfort" comments, or be ignored as irrelevant as it's a pretty old and much-discussed topic already in terms of general LJ use.

(Or, I may just have too many whiney people on my F-list.)

[identity profile] same-difference.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes more sense.

Also given the size of your friends list, I'd assume too much whining. Generally I avoid whining I mostly haven't got much to whine about.

I think it's more the type of people on my F-list. As I've said to [livejournal.com profile] magicaddict, I read my friends page using filters. I'm only interested in reading Bath (or Bath-related) people, and a handful of others I genuinely find interesting. The wider F-list gets largely ignored, they're only there to get access to certain posts after all.

Thing is, everyone says that about whining, but I'd rather hear whatever it is my actual friends have to say about their lives be it good or bad or worse. After all, that is why I read them.

There should probably be more smilies in the comment above this one but general apathetic gloom is stripping them out. ;) Feel free to add them back as necessary for they are certainly in there.

Btw, did you manage to start on either of those books?

[identity profile] same-difference.livejournal.com 2007-01-23 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about it, apathetic gloom is an entirely acceptable state of being, plus we have D&D tomorrow to kick you out of it.

I haven't yet I think I'll start one now actually.

Dare I ask about the Shadow of the Colossus icons?

[personal profile] marmaladecat 2007-01-23 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, actually. I think I have three done if I recall. I want to touch them up a bit before letting them loose however as I'm not entirely satisfied with them. Thanks for reminding me, they and the screenshots have been sat in a folder on my desktop for a while now!

You could proberbly increase your reply count by using internet drama. Experiment: it will be amazing.
