It occurs to me as mentioned in the title, that if like me you find waking up very difficult, then there is very little real difference between 8am and 6pm, except that you have to make more effort to get to bed, well by now. Hopefully the next approximately 6 months will pass quickly.

Work wise, well compared to the last time I worked for this particular multinational it seems a little better. The office is a portacabin, and while more visually run down seems more pleasant than the filton office ever did. I don't yet have a computer to work at, but unlike last time I will have one before I leave. No air conditioning, but the office isn't huge and open plan so it's not as much of an issue, and not that much of a step down than my employers comfort cooling*. Lastly while they still provide the same nasty vending machince tea/coffee/hot chocolate/etc this time I won't have to pay for it. Even the cafeteria food seems less over priced, and looks more edible. Still making myself lunches every day and drinking only chilled water will be the way forward I feel.

The work I probably shouldn't talk about, but there definitely seems to be a combination of an overly large time estimate (lots of padding), and too many staff for not enough actual work. Tomorrow I get to meet the person the rest of the team spent most of the day complaining about, because there absence makes work easier...

Ah well 1 day down, so only an indefinite time period left to go. Oh and for your information I'll have no work email access till I have my own PC and login, and I can't carry my phone with me into the building until I'm inducted on Monday.

*Or as I think of it random temperature changing system.
