Back from Torquay
Sep. 16th, 2007 08:33 pmTime spent in 4 star hotel: 44 hours.
Time spent in company meeting: about 15 mins.
Enjoyment: Much!
So yes the company conference, was much as I expected a holiday for everyone in the company paid for by them, though more relaxing. I spent time mostly with the rest of the graduate intake who joined when I did; something we haven't done in a while really. There was some walking, far too much croquet, music, alcohol, and generally taking the mick of people.
Could have done without feeling ill for a bit on Saturday, but other than that no complaints really.
Funniest part of the weekend, 4 star hotel and it's smart casual dress code meets company of 200+ software engineers, and their families and there jeans and t-shirts. The dress code died a death, and the staff went from snooty to resigned (Well of the ones who clearly cared). Still at least I didn't end up in the Faulty Towers hotel, unlike other people.
And interestingly enough hotels can cook nice food for large numbers of people having the same thing, clearly wedding parties just get shafted. Oh and being served last is best on a table, it always got the person extra.
