So went and played Magic: The Gathering in the pub. Had fun, came 3rd out of 10. I still surprise myself drafting, I end up with far stronger decks than I think I will based on how I think the draft is going. Still need to work on reading signals and pick orders, but I definitely seem better at the game than I used to be. Clearly not playing it for a while was the way forward (and no I don't entirely get why either).

My luck was pretty fair too. Made the 4/15ish chance to kill the dragon with a lucky top deck, a move which won that game. Then in the last round lost the last game, when the 1/10 chance to lose came up. Sometimes it's worth taking the risk and making the flashy play; it makes for better stories at least.

I may also have been productive in another way, and may have recruited a new person for Larp. The girlfriend of one of the regular players expressed an interest. So we'll see if we can't get her and perhaps him up for the 5th of August (She has not larped, he went to LT events with the Dragons, and didn't really think too much of it).

For now I think Magic will take preference over Salsa. I'm out of the head space for actively trying to meet people, for the motivation that it requires comes with a mope, and given the choice it seems I'll take generally good over generally mopey with improved odds of really happy.
