*sigh* Still unwell, but now on antibiotics so hopefully not ill for very much longer.
The sore throat, and related infection, which started last Saturday is still here. While I have not felt as unwell as I did on Wednesday/Thursday since then, I'm still not feeling all the great. This is now day four of not really having a voice which is just annoying, and I'm off work yet again as my right eye decides it wanted to join in my throat and tongue in this whole annoying infection business.
Still whirlwind doctors appointment* gives me the aforementioned antibiotics (penicillin), and the slightly nice assurances that my throat and tonsils are fine just a little red. So hopefully I'll get my voice back, be able to swallow without discomfort soon and not have headaches. Because well not being able to for a short time is annoying, and not be able to for several days is a whole different calibre of irritation.
Still at least painkillers seem to reduce the swelling and make things easier. I can't quite believe how many I've taken over the last few days, averaging about 4-8 a day (paracetamol and aspirin). This is a lot for me I don't normally take any painkillers, just choosing to ignore pain instead. I don't take painkillers mostly because I remember what cocktails of stuff my Dad used to take when he had regular (weekly or more frequently) migraines and the side effects that those sort of repeated heavy dosage brings. Obviously I'm no where near that level, but it put me off painkillers generally. So normally I only take them if I'm in a lot of pain, and just can't function. Even then I rarely take more than 1. So taking probably more painkillers in the last week that I've done in the last decade has been odd. Still they helped which is the main thing.
Other than that I had a nice weekend in Nottingham with an old friends and people he knew who I've met maybe be once or twice before. It was good, other than the not really being able to talk thing. Plus I'm very happy with the Rover the drive up was very nice.
Edit: Apparently this is the first time I've been on antibiotics since 1988! I don't get nasty illness very often.
*If you see a doctor after suffering from something minor for a long time, there is little time needed for diagnosis or decided treatment apparently. I think I was in and out in about 2-3 minutes.
