I have a new car; Rover 45, Metallic dark blue, 1.4 litre, 6 years old and with 60,000 miles on the clock. It is a very nice car and has such strange and unusual things for me such as air conditioning, a cd player, power steering and the almost mythical central locking.
The car has been bought from my parents local Parish priest* so it has had at least one careful owner. My Dad was helping buy a newer car, as the priest has to do a lot of driving in his work, and my Dad realised Thursday that the priests older one might be good for me. A bit of organisation later and my old fiesta was taken to be used as the part exchange, and the Rover going to me. As such I'm paying the cost of the Rover's part exchange value plus the cost of it's recent service and minus the value of my Fiesta.
So all told I'm spending £1220 pounds, as they managed to get £500 for the Fiesta for being in such good condition. Seeing as the Fiesta was really annoying me and I would have been happy to have it scrapped if it got rid of it, I can't say I'm dissapointed with the result.
Insurance is an extra £180, but that's easily liveable with. Now I just need to get use to driving a much longer car and get people I'm giving a lift to to be extremely careful about mud after larps.
