Posting this to get it out of my system.
Apr. 24th, 2006 01:00 pmThings I would have done differently given a chance:
1) Put Liana in charge, because she was supposed to be. This was a private matter rather than a military mission. Then again Ruth has a headache so perhaps this worked for the best.
2) Get the Vortex joke into the briefing.
3)Use all the fur tabards for the orcs, horns for the demons and skeleton masks for the skellies all the way through not just at the end.
4) Have the party much closer to the final ritual to hear the dialog.
5) Remember the necromancer and demonlogist assistances in the finale. They were there for the party to get and to give them a sense of achievement. In forgetting them all they had was the necromancer escaping without the party getting any of the sources of the problem.
6) Used some of the harder monsters we statted in the smaller fights. It was hard though. Wanting to challenge the party, but not hit them too hard when we knew there was a big fight coming afterwards. I don't think the party were challenged as much as they should have been though.
7) Made a point that some of the skeletons in the field ambush were heavily armoured (and that they were all skellies).
8) Work the Trantis thing out better.
So I don't dwell on what I wanted to do better, I'll just remind myself:
1) The game seemed to flow well, without too much faffing.
2) We did manage to keep carrying of kit to a minimum.
3) We got all the monsters we wanted, they were all excellent and weren't sitting around bored except for when the part were praying/meditating.
4) The dig sites came off exactly as I/we envisioned.
5) The story seemed to make it to the players fairly intact - though the reports will show exactly how much of the story reached the players.
6) There were no major injuries (though I whole
almosthonest and
cheekychipmunk ankles are feeling better).
7) Most importantly people seem to have had fun.
So I just need to wait for bonus point suggestions and a couple of reports and I can write the debrief. Thankfully because the teams were investigating the area, I can make sure the story I want people to know
get's told to them as part of the debrief in a justifiably IC way.
Regardless I'm glad to get done. Having started the process of writing two years and a half ago, it's good to have it finished.
Now just to wait for my feet to stop hurting.
