Crystal Maze Larpage
Dec. 18th, 2005 08:02 pmThat was a good larp. I still feel reasonably useless, though I am impressed with Flare, it's a lot better than I gave it credit for though I'm glad it was changed to work more sensibly. Though I owe a lot of thanks to all the monsters who roleplayed the effects so well.
For Aurinyan it wasn't too bad, bad things happened as expected, but at least there weren't any drow/light mage villages to cause him anguish. It amazes me sometimes how good I am at staying out of danger as him. It almost seemed in the field fight that monsters just weren't coming after me, though I was always quick to get away if it looked like they might. I feel guilty OOC because I just don't put myself at risk to help others as Aurinyan - I wonder how much difference I would have made if I tried to fight more. It's hard to tell when as against the threats on the hilly field I wasn't much more than an elf with a staff and 1 point of dex.
On the plus side Aurinyan has gained 3 life which is just utterly amazing. The condition it comes with is that Aurinyan has to follow the humacti restrictions, which shouldn't be hard seeing as undead really annoy him (it was actually one of the future character routes I was considering for a while). Also there were golems and I got to recognise them, and study them and everything. Unfortunately I didn't get to buy them though.
Sadly there were many deaths, including the final one for one of
magicaddict's, as well as much tension in the party at times. Also
hotpork was so good as Richard O'Brian, even if he completely forgot to tell us that we weren't supposed to try and collect all of the tokens in the crystal dome at the end.
Of course this was all topped by coming home to be greeted by P, who was in the process of making Guetsli (translation literally 'little good things') - basically christmas biscuits.
