So much to post, so little time
Nov. 20th, 2004 08:34 pmYes I haven't posted on my LJ due to lack fo time, but thanks to a highly ordinary but unusual turn of events I have some time to post now so I will.
This may well be massive or not, we'll just have to see.
I really am busy this year, I've given up larping till the end of my final year because I can't spare a Sunday, and find that I'm agonising over whether I can spare 3 hours to go to Sci-fi at the moment. The current conclusion has been I can't. I had to miss out on a weekend of friends and MTG related silliness (Unhinged prerelease) because I haven't the time, and I'm starting to wish I could wake up easily so I didn't lose so much time in the mornings. On the positive side, thanks almost exclusively to P I've rediscovered my motivation to work, which I knew I used to have. This has meant when I've gone to be late (read 2amish) it's because I haven't wanted to stop working as I've been in the flow of things, rather than because I got distracted by a book or a film on TV. Still need to work harder though, as I would like to have enough free time (mostly because my coursework will all be in) to play
drabbit's high level larp.
The last of the Invader Zim DVD's arrived a couple of days ago which means I now have the full set. Hopefully I'll get time to watch them all again soon (though there are few from series 2 I have yet to see, so I'll need to watch them before I can watch them again).
I have an umbrella, which P found for me. Even though I've been living in Bath for the last 21+ years it never occurred to me that it would be useful to have one. I'm not sure why. The umbrella is spring loaded; I think this is far cooler than I probably should do. I had been attempting to abuse Murphy's law with the umbrella using the unlogic that if it only rains if you forget to bring an umbrella, bringing an umbrella with you all the time should means it never rains (at least while your outside). As of the last couple of days the laws of logic, probability and meteorology one out, and it's rained when I was outside and had my umbrella. At least I had the umbrella though, and it did work for three weeks.
I downloaded the Total War: Rome demo to 'test' my computer a few weeks ago. I'm pleased, theres something satisfying about playing a very new game, setting it to maximum graphical settings and having it still run totally smoothly. Oh and elephants and flaming arrows are cool.
Oh and Sierra are muppets. The Half-Life 2 debacle is a great example of a total lack of fore-thought.
I'm driving the Fiesta now. This was the car I was always supposed to move on to from the Micra a while ago, when it was finally fixed a bit (cracked wing mirror, cracked bumper and a mismatch of faded paint). It had been my sister's first car, and had been plagued with problems when she had it. All of the problems (from failing breaks on motorways to chronic not starting) were traced back to it having had a leaded piston fitted instead of an unleaded one. That problem was fixed so hopefully I shouldn't have any problems. Just to clarify this is the same Fiesta that I drove when I'd had the accident in the Micra (in an Airbus car park, in January), and had an accident in 6 weeks later (on Bathwick Hill), the day before I was due to have my insurance put back on to the Micra again (I was only temporarily insured on the Fiesta). I've taken to calling than my winter of discontent. Anyway, the Fiesta was repaired, and was completely repainted, so it looks practically brand knew. It was my uncle at his garage who fixed it for me, and I helped out mostly by prepping it for the painting and then cleaning and painting my uncles spraying booth. The car is now pretty much worth its weight in paint. Ok that's not entirely accurate but the cost of respraying was practically the value of the car, though the car is worth more now because of it. Oh and this car is red too.
There was one other thing but it escapes my memory, oh well.
