Glasses

I picked my glasses up on Saturday, the total cost in the end was £300, they dropped it by £10 and I wasn't willing to enquire why lest it turned out they made a mistake. I'm happy with them, prescription sunglasses are a godsend especially when driving. I was surprised how quickly they came through (ordered Wednesday late afternoon, arrived Saturday mid afternoon) considering it was expected they would take a week.

It seems like people don't notice the difference which means they suit me well, or just don't look wrong and it's weird wearing stiff glasses again after wearing my old bent loose ones. I'm still noticing some distortion when I move, but it's a lot better than it was at first (if you've never worn glasses you won't understand what I'm talking about).

This whole process did make me notice something; it's interesting how much mental difference there is between £300 and £310 pounds. It's the same absolute difference between £230 and £240, for example, (and relatively it's less) but it feels like more. Anyone else known what I mean?

In other news P is now back home in Oxford, and I'm definitely feeling a bit less bouncy and a bit more tired, the whole unplugged feeling again, but not quite as bad I think. Though I should be seeing her approximately every other week, but not this weekend, until she goes to Switzerland on the 28th of July.

I'm off to see her in Switzerland from the 17th to the 24th of August, and I get to meet her Dad too. It'll be the furthest I'll have ever gone from home, and my first trip into mainland Europe (I haven't travelled much). I shall hide behind P when it comes to communicating with the Swiss-German speaking locals though.

Lastly, I haven't heard anything from the insurance companies about the accidents in a while. A month ago I sent in some photos I had taken of the car park accident, because they were going to put me at fault, but had given me a chance to get in any other information that might help my case. A few days later I was phoned saying they hadn't received the photos and were going to have to progress it as my fault if they didn't see them soon, so I faxed them through as well, and since then I haven't heard anything. Oh well, I guess I can't do anything about it. Anyone know from which point I start building up a no claims bonus again?

That's pretty much it.
