Lots o' Stuff
I've got a bit to write about, good weekend etc, if this update looks really big I'll stick it behind cut tags. I'm running out of time so I'll finish this later. It's been updated now.
Watched Fumoffu on Friday. It's absolutely brilliant, had me in fits of laughter for hours, I still find myself chuckling about it when I think about it now. More later.
Also the new Sci-fi treasurer Jon has been really helpful, I'll write more later.
Played a D&D game Andy DM'ed on Saturday. It was a one off session (with vague possibilities of it turning into a full campaign) so he could have a go at DMing for the first time. It was really good, I mean really really good. The world he set it in is the world he has been creating as he's been writing his novel for the last 7 (?) years, and it really shows. It meant that not only was the whole world really detailed (we really wanted to go and visit most of it) but so were all the people in it. You could (and I did) have several minute conversation with any of the NPC's. There were so many stories waiting to be discovered so much of a world hinted at, that you couldn't help but want to find out more. I played a Paladin, something which approximately fitted with an organisation of knights in the game, and just from what we had been told about the world, I was able to work out exactly what my character would do, would have done, how he would behave etc in the setting. It's a good character which I'd like to play again some day, finally a role that justifies me not shutting up. Here hoping that good comments about his game will make it more likely to be developed into a full campaign or series of campaigns.
Went Larping on Sunday it's been a while since I last went and I really enjoyed myself. I monstered and had a lot of fun, and didn't spend very long at all doing nothing. James is a good GM which means next year is looking good so far. Assuming Blades runs next year of course, having found out that Hobbit didn't get the various forms in on Friday (the deadline). I've told him and James to get it sorted out today, get the forms done, and go to the society office and get things sorted, so that exists as an official society and gets budgets next year.
Speaking of Larp on a less doomed sounding note, I think I have a character that I would actually like to play in LT. The description is long so I'll definitely put it behind cut tags, if anyone has any opinions please let me know.
( LT character )
First finishing off yesterdays one, I'll just include the updated paragraphs:
Watched Full Metal Panic Fumoffu on Friday. It's absolutely brilliant, had me in fits of laughter for hours, I still find myself chuckling when I think about it now. More behind cut tags because of spoilers, lets just say in summary, I want to own it on DVD, I want one of those power suites that Sousake uses and I want the original manga. Anyway (note writing this spoiler resulting in much fits of trying not to laugh at work as I remembered things, yes it really was that funny):
( Just so funny )
Also the new Sci-fi treasurer Jon has been really helpful. So far he has gone to all the meetings for me, collected all the forms, gone to the trouble of filling them out (after we discussed our answers), has checked various things with the society office etc and has just generally be competent. Obviously once I'm back off placement I should be able to get a little more involved, but at least I know if for whatever reason I can't do anything there someone else in the committee who can be replied upon to get things done.
