Big Update
Mar. 2nd, 2004 07:30 pmHmmm where to being as its being a while since I've had a chance to update.
I'll start with work. In general things are carrying on as ever. I'm stilling writing bits of GUI's in python and still have very little understanding about how everything is to join up to become the whole interface. However, I now know that no one else really knows either and several more meetings (read: arguments) will have to happen before things are finalised. On the plus side I've finally finished the spreadsheet GUI. It's gone for several versions of code as things have changed over time, but now at least it works perfectly. I am now moving on to an XML driven series of combo boxes. Amazingly enough this will actually involve working with other people seeing as someone else is putting together the standard XML format that will be used. I've also be sent by my supervisor an assessment form for him, part of how Airbus conducts its yearly staff reviews. I'm attempting to fill out the form, though it requires a hard slog through lots of corporate buzzwords to find the actual meaning. I don't think I'm exactly in a position to judge the given criteria but meh, I can always give it a try.
It snowed on Thursday of last week, it took me two and a half hours to get home from work over 3 times longer than normal. An hour of that was spent on the London road, the traffic moved so slowly I was able to comfortable read a book while sitting in that traffic. That's all that's needed to be said about that really. The day after I had an entirely unrelated sick day, which was handy seeing as I wouldn't have been able to get out of my lane till about 12:00 (and by the time I got to work I would have to leave again). If the weather prevents me from getting in at all I have to take the time as holiday, is that standard for all companies? Luckily the sick day meant I didn't have to lose any holiday.
We had a BESM session yesterday. Since my last update we survived the entry in to fantasy though a couple of us were feeling a little battered after our encounter Ryoko (Tenchi-Muyo) left. We wandered around fantasy, nearly got into a fight with melia (Slayers), I challenged a young Goku (Dragonball) and wasn't doing too badly (he didn't land a blow, I hit him first) until he used a kame-hame-ha and knocked me out. Gin Peng is pleased and I finally got to use his special attack, though no critical unfortunately L. We met people looking for Miaka (fantasy thing) and found out Tamahome (ditto) was somehow in the 'real' universe. We found the target, Lina Inverse (Slayers), and had convinced her to attempt to take out the weapon (the plan was to get her to use her most powerful attack and distract her so she accidentally destroyed the fantasy universe). We found what we believe to be the weapon (it looked like a gigantic (mountain sized) galleon) already destroyed by another group (who are standing serenely by the gigantic crater), and there the session ended.
I've had FFX-2 for a little over a week now. Its pretty good though the fan service is present, most obviously in the rotate and zoom function of scan (that can be built up to a level that it can be cast on party members). I've done about 15.5 hours and already have a level 24 party but have only done two plot missions, so I'm playing it as I usually play FF games. Have found random giant bad guy in the desert that gives megaelixirs. I can see I'm going to be fighting that thing repeatidly, get about 30 of the items maybe get some more to sell. Shouldn't take too long.
The obligatory P comment ;-), we've been together for over four months now
:-D. Everything is still absolutely amazing, and I can't believe how lucky I am.
