I think I've worked out who you are.

It's not directly related, but having been ill, being on the omeprazole and having lower stomach acid did let the infection take more of a hold than normal. Having stopped taking it, I got acid stomachs a lot quicker (the same day) than I did last time I stopped, which makes me tend to think it's all a typical immune system extra acid style response.

General causes of acid stomach seem to be familial, but the GPs don't seem interested in having me examined via endoscope currently.
