I admit this has been inspired by another meme I saw on my friends page, but I am going to attempt to start a meme. I suspect it will look a lot like other memes, which may well help it's replication.*
Anyway you can generally describe memes as falling into one of three catagories:
1) Quiz memes (answer questions, get picture, proudly display picture with own comments of either 'that [general statement] can be interpreted to apply to me/couldn't be less accurate if it tried').
2) Get to know people memes (you give answers/questions/highlight statements that allow people to find out about you or you to find out about them).
3) Movement memes (a badge or statement which you post declaring your support for or stance against some idea/proposal/action).
The meme that follows (highlighted in bold to separate it from the commentary) is inspired by the second category, and will fall into that category as well. The reasoning behind it (as much as any reasoning can be applied to a meme) is to provide me with answers to future memes of the second kind. Mainly because I've answered a few of them already, and I talk a lot, which leaves me struggling for answers to give to certain memes. Anyway without further waffling I present to you a meme:
Leave a comment with: <-
Basic instructions because it's not like people won't have seen an uncountable number of memes before and have no clue what to do.A random/interesting/funny/weird fact about me. <-
Section of meme that full fills the meme's intended purpose.A completely fake fact about me <-
An opportunity to mock the poster of the meme, which on circumstantial evidence will increase the replies a meme will get.Once you have left a comment, copy this to your LJ to see what things you never realised your friends new about you <-
The meme's necessary reproductive organ. There it is, all created and everything. Now to see if it spreads like well a meme on an LJ, or languishes here never to experience the wider world of different page formats.
*Which raises an interesting corollary on the above discussion: I wonder how many stillborn memes there are out there, memes that failed to replicate and spread, or spread briefly only to die scattered across the LJ's of a small group of friends.
( Because I'm nice here's an easily copyable version of the meme )
